another fan rant

I'm going to vent for a moment:

Good Charlotte consists of Benji, Joel, Paul, Billy and now Dean.

If you're a fan of "Good Charlotte" one would think that in some form or fashion you like all of hte above boys. They don't have to all be your favourite, you are allowed to like one or more better than the others but you should at least like them all.

If you're calling yourself a fan of "Good Charlotte" you should be a fan of the group. That means all 5 guys. period.

You may not completely approve of everything they do. Sometimes I'd like to burn pieces of Joel's wardrobe. But that doesn't make me like him any less. (its actually endearing).

Don't call yourself a fan if you're going to sit there and bash (a) certain member(s) of the group.

If you "can't stand" the twins then why the fuck are you a fan? I love Paul and Billy to death but the group wouldn't be "Good Charlotte" without Benji and Joel. And the same goes in the opposite direction.

Judging someone based on a 3rd, 4th, 5th+ account of a short, one-sided conversation is a load of shit. Sounds to me like you're just looking for an excuse.

If you don't like them, fine. don't. No one is forcing you. But don't you DARE call yourself a fan and don't ever say anything about me being one. You have NO right.

Also, if you're not a fan anymore, go away. If you're not a fan anymore why troll picture communities and message boards? If you're not a fan anymore you have no reason to be there.

Oh yeah, and "they've changed" is a load of shit. Of course they have. They're not going to be putting out the same exact music they did with the first (or even second) CD. If you want a cookie cutter copy of the first CD I think its on sale for 9.99 at best buy. go buy another copy.

I totally agree with you on everything you said. However, there are things I do know, but nothing, NOTHING will ever change my love for the guys. They have shown me nothing but love and respect for as long as I have been a fan. Now..being as I know them a bit more perosnally than some..I do play the innocent game in communities to try and see what others say and what knots. So, I guess to some, it can seem like I play two sided, but that's just cause I try and get the scoop. *lol* I really have no idea why I am going on about this in your lj, but for some reason I felt i needed to say that. I don't want anyone thinking I don't love my boys, cause God knows..I'd do anything for them. Hell, I already do that anyway. You rock! :)

Isn't it the same thing no matter what fandom you're in? You don't gotta like all the members but, geez, don't sit there and call yourself a fan if you're going to stand there and bash someone (or someone's) who are important pieces of the group.

I have to disagree - you can like the collective group, and not be a fan of one member. Point in case - I love *NSYNC, but really don't care for Timberlake, and yes, that's an opinion that caused me a lot of grief when I was actively participating in fannish discussions. I wouldn't say that I hate him - he is an important part of *NSYNC, and they wouldn't be the same without him - but I certainly don't love him like I do the other four.

I do agree that if your hating on someone is souring the fannish experience for someone else, you might want to step back a bit....

I don't necessarily agree with you but the majority of the people I'm most annoyed with are to the point they hate two members. Not just "dont love as much as the others". I'm talking, really dislike. if you can't stand 2 members out of 5 how can you call yourself a fan of the group?

My thing is, how many of them actually *know* the twins. Probably none. I can't see the point of hating someone you don't even know. It's a waste of energy. We have no idea what they're like outside of being onstage, in magazines and in interviews. Even meeting them like we did, one half-hour sitting on a bus doesn't mean shit in the long run.
