it's lunch time so I feel the need to ramble, be prepared
--
1) I am getting really tired of not knowing who to talk to or how to do things. There really needs to be a way you can just learn these things during your first week. Like a reference manual of who to talk to for what and where to go to find things.
granted that's pretty much impossible but damn would it be a really freakin' good idea.
--
2) chocolate for lunch is a bad idea. first off I'm not a huge chocolate fan, second it makes my stomach all icky. Though I haven't bothered to get up and go get real food so it's my own fault. I'll do that later.
--
3) why is it when I get writing a new, big, story all my other ideas for not-so-involved, easy-to-sitdown-and-write-out ideas run away? not fair man. I havent written anything except the new AU in forever, its bugging me.
--
4) I love the smell of grapefruit and it's evil that B&BW created grapefruit peppermint cuz I'm obsessing over the lotion and body mist. must. have. grapefruit.
--
5) I'm now enrolled in a class called "Managing Your Career at Lockheed Martin". I'm actually looking forward to this, strange as that may be. On the same note I'm actually looking into taking the GRE and getting my masters. It is both scaring me and exciting me. I'm not sure I'm ready to spend 40 hours a week working and another 20-30 with classes and class work. It's not the same as going to school and working in the kitchen 15-25 hours a week.
--
6) I am completely and utterly insane. Or at least something along those lines.
just thought I'd point that out.
--
7)
People talk about being anti-war and against all kinds of opposition and the like. I really don't have a position on the matter which sounds stupid and cowardly but really it's not that easy - think about it.
I work for one of the largest defense contractors in the country. That right there is a stacked deck. The military is who keeps us in business. Granted we don't just service the US (we actually have contracts with upwards of 50-60 other countries) but without the need for military defense we wouldn't exist.
Now someone might say that if we didn't spend our time, money and technology on defense we could spend it on other, more beneficial things. Well a lot of research that has benefited in many other areas stems from the research for the government.
Granted I don't like seeing us at war, I'm not saying I do, but I think there's a time and a place when we need to make a stand. I don't want war, I never would and I avoid any type of politics. I don't discuss it, I don't pay attention any more than I need to and I avoid it at all costs because really it's all a matter of opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I see no reason for me to argue mine.
One of the other big things right now is the space shuttle accident. There have been people saying we need to slow down or stop the space program. Personally I think if someone feels that way they don't understand what the space program is really about. Yes it's sad that we lost seven astronauts but they gave their lives knowing that this was dangerous but also knowing that we need and want to learn more. They were explorers and scientists. They took the risk on the chance we could learn more. They're not the first and they certainly won't be the last. But the worst thing to do would be to stop something as wonderful as the space program because of this, I bet if you could ask all seven of them it would be the last thing they ever wanted. Why make their deaths be the end of something wonderful, why not let them be the beginning of something new?
Yeah I didn't mean to babble that much but *shrugs* what can I say. I'm off to go read my friends list, check out my webpages, and flush out ideas for the choeyposse and the tattoo site.

Date: 2003-02-05 11:27 am (UTC)I'd love to have a one on one with Colin Powell. I want to know what he really thinks. Off the record, of course.
Shuttle: Amen, sister.
I love you, darling!
