This has been annoying me for a while but since I heard the song again I'm gonna bitch about it.
before I bitch I need to make a few points.
First:
I have a special love for the song Turn the Page by Bob Segar. It's one of those songs that puts me in a certain mood no matter when or where I am when I hear it. It's one of those songs that I can never get sick of and have a tendency to play it over and over. The song speaks to me in a way thats hard to understand. Honestly I could go on forever but theres no point. Basically I really love this song.
Second:
I love Metallica. If I had a top 5 list of my favourite artists they would be on it. I love their music and their lyrics. There's never a mood I could be in where one of their songs wouldn't cover it. On top of that they're a well known group thats been around for a while and is fairly well respected. I like that.
Now. I've heard recently on the radio a version of Turn the Page by Metallica. First off I can't stand the idea of anyone but Bob singing that song but honestly I really don't like how its done. They've lost the whole atmosphere of the song. The original is just Bob with low, steady background mood music. The sax and light symbol work just add to the whole mood and atmosphere of the song. When Metallica does it everything is full of guitars and drums and it removes all sense of atmosphere.
Basically what I'm saying is I'm bitter that one of my favorite groups has redone one of my favorite songs and I really really don't like it. In fact it aggravates me to no end.
/bitching
yeah so I have the original version of Turn the Page on repeat now. This is the way the song should be.

Date: 2003-01-22 12:44 pm (UTC)honestly I think the song was part of a tribute or something so they didn't just cover it for fun. But I wouldnt quote me on that. I'm kind of hoping. I agree with you on the rotting. Though I do have a special place in my heart for S&M just cuz.
but seriously if I hear that song again im gonna scream and/or hurt someone.
