wee! questions!

heee

questions from [livejournal.com profile] jic

1) What's 8+5? Okay, kidding. How far does your math geekdom go? Hobby? Profession? Education?

lemme go find my calculator . . . :o)

Well I'll start off by saying I'm an engineer. That pretty much says it all. Math is/was education and is profession. Not necessarily 2+2=4 but in a round about way.
I could say its a hobby too. While people are reading or writing I'm sitting doing math puzzles. Especially on airplanes. I am also getting big into Images - geometric drawings.

2) Who would you like to have as your celebrity pen-pal? Would the answer change based on who you could tell about it? How?

Chris. is it sad that I didn't even have to think about that?
seriously though I would just love to be in contact with him and get a glimpse into who he really is. Plus I think it would just be a hell of a lot of fun.

Really I would pick him no matter who I could/couldn't tell. though it would be hard not to share the squee :o)

3) What has been your path through fandom? First fandom? First slash? Favorite fandom?

I've only ever been in one fandom - nsync. So really there's not much of a path. *heh* I was a fan, have been since '98. A friend introduced me to sync!slash in late 2000 - mailing lists and stuff. Another friend got me into LJ some time late in 2001. Early 2002 I started to find other slashers on LJ and meet in person. It was all downhill from there :o)

I have moments when I get frustrated and its not my favorite but its always there and I doubt I'll change.

4) Do you feel that music is very mathematical?

Definately. I'm a musician so that helps. I could spend all day explaining how the base of music is completely mathematical but it would probably bore most people. But in all honesty it just makes sense to me. I think one of the reasons I love music is so much is because it speaks to me and I can understand it on a certain level.

5) Are there stories behind your LJ name and web site name? What are they?

My LJ name really isn't anything too exciting. My first journal was chrisaddict. I decided I wanted a name that wasn't Chris related becuase I had intended on keeping nsync out of my journal (yeah that lasted long). I have a cd of trance music meant for meditation and relaxation, I listen to it to chill out. It's called Dream Trance. enough said.

as far as stories behind my web site names there's a few. (this may take a while)

addicted2chris.com - the site was originally created on geocities and I didn't really have a name for it. In April '00 I decided to buy a domain name for it. I had a long standing joke that I wasn't 'obsessed' with Chris, I was 'addicted' to him. Thus was born the domain name.

orange-jello.com - there really isn't much of a story here. I'm utterly obsessed with the color orange. (as some of you know) and jello is one of my favorite things. put the two together and you get orange jello. (orangefilledoreo was too long *g*)

champagne high - is my fiction page. It's from the Sister Hazel song. I wrote a story based on the song after I created the site. But really the song just speaks to me. At one point I had 3 or 4 icons with lines from the song.

the rest of my sites are pretty self explanatory so I'm gonna stop there :o)

wee that was fun!!! thanks [livejournal.com profile] jic

That reminds me, you should come here and work for my company. Because, hello, California!

huzzah for math geeks

Hee! Are fractals just the prettiest things ever?

Anyway, I suppose I could have done engineering. I degreed in Physics with a math minor, but I am sooooooo not using it. I tested software for a company making scanning electron microscopes and focused ion beams, but the culture there - especially the attitude toward testers - was so awful I wouldn't go back for $100K. Now I take phone calls for GM Card and have discovered that I am much more of a people-person than I ever dreamed in HS.

dude fractals are like the epitome of my existance.

I really wanted to go into chaos theory but I don't have the brain for it. besides I'm already insane it would have just made me worse *g*

see testers here rock man, I'm actually leaning towards test engineering and manufacturing support. You should come work for us *wink* :o)

dude I have a GM card *g* I should call and ask for you :o)

dude I don't like california, you couldnt pay me enough to live there.

Visiting friends I like, living there? never.

Really? how odd.

Huh. Although, I did grow up here. You probably like the seasons and stuff... hee! and that snow stuff. What is up with that?

*love*

[identity profile] dreamtrance.livejournal.com 2003-06-11 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
I'm weird *heh* we already knew that.

dude I live in the 4th snowiest city in the country, by choice.

I think that says enough :o)

*shudder*

Heh, that's okay, I like you anyway... hee!

Bwahahahaha! I'm in the Redemption Center, but we can't do direct transfers.

What's your product? (for the test engineering and manufacturing support type stuff)

*googles*

OH! That actually sounds cool. And testing would MATTER, because, you know, it's not like they just aren't going to buy another microscope if this one isn't doing the job.

And metrics make me absurdly happy.

*sigh* It would be nice to speak math again and not get hungry, questioning looks when you say, "pi."
